Beautiful Sachets 06-03-09 |
This week we are making a beautiful & simple
sachet. The set used is Thistle Alphabet. Which is available for all paying members to download below:-) |
You will need a fabric doily or I used a cocktail napkin from www.allaboutblanks.com You will also need a matching piece of light weight fabric to make the pocket on the back. |
Measure the back of your doily so you can cut your pocket to fit. Zig zag or serge around the edges of the pocket piece. |
Hoop your doily and stitch your design in the middle.
You can now make your sachet while your design is stitching. Cut 2 pieces of fabric about 1/4" smaller than your pocket. Stitch 3 sides together with a serger or zig zag. Add filling of your choice and zig zag shut. |
When your design is done, unhoop it and trim the backing off.
Pin your pocket on the back of the doily. Stitch it on with a straight stitch or zig zag. Leave the top open so you can get your sachet in it! |
Slide your filled sachet into the back.
Now you have a beautiful sachet that you can keep or give as a gift. |
Team it up with other linens to give as a beautiful gift to any woman in your life. |
You can also make this as a no sew item by using sewing glue or heat bond tape.
